First Taste of 16 West Restaurant

It’s all about tasty tapas, wine and more where Chef Addy Gowe leads the kitchen at this new spot in central Lonsdale. To play on the name of the restaurant they are offering 16 wines by the glass which is a great way to allow for guests to try more of their wines with the tasty dishes that feature as much local ingredients as possible.

This new Wine and Tapas bar is owned by Brooke Campbell and this the former location of her Ramen restaurant that she had been running here previously, since the pandemic she decided to change things up and change course.

I have visited and tried a selection of items, the Squash Gnocchi, one of my favourite dishes here with browned butter, brussels, fresh herbs and grated parmesan. I also loved the Duck Pappardelle with braised duck, crushed tomatoes, red wine, fresh herbs, seasoned breadcrumbs and parmesan

Started off with the Tuna Tartare a great dish to tempt the palate with sashimi-grade tuna, tomato vinaigrette, cucumber, fresh herbs, serviced with taro chips and for me this was paired with the Loxton sparkling wine (zero-proof, Australia). The Roasted Red Pepper Bean Dip was a tasty one with confit garlic, roasted red peppers, cannellini beans served with toasted baguette.

The Beet Salad with roasted beets, blue cheese, arugula, citrus segments, and citrus vinaigrette was tasty as was the Nicoise Salad with tuna, potatoes, cucumber, green beans, carrots, tomatoes, olives, vinaigrette; I also liked the Burrata Plate with roasted tomatoes, grilled squash, fresh basil, balsamic glaze, served with toasted sourdough baguette.

The dessert options were limited during opening week, I enjoyed the Vegan chocolate mouse.
