Tourism Vancouver and the Dine Out Festival is launching a new one of a kind dining festival which takes place between August 21 – September 21 in Vancouver with 163 participating restaurants.
Created as a way to help the restaurant industry during the covid19 pandemic, restaurants in the city were invited to join this initiative as long as they had a patio for dining outside or offered a picnic to go.
You can choose from a selection of 93 restaurants offering Picnics-To-Go! Most are designed for 2 people to enjoy outside during the last month of summer. Your last chance to explore and dine outside before summer ends in a comfortable and safe way enjoying some delicious food. After exploring the dineoutside.ca menus, you can call the respective restaurant on the day you wish to picnic and place your order.
Last week I experienced two delicious picnic to go packs from Forage and their new restaurant Beside Forage who both did an incredible job in the creation of their packs. Make sure to include one of both of them in your plans.
At Forage they have themed their Picnic 2 Go as West Coast, priced at $70 it features two boxes, the first is:
A local cheese & charcuterie pack
-local artisanal cheeses
-a variety of meats
with the second being:
A Sea, Land & Soil pack
-Albacore tuna crudo with crispy duck skin
-bison carpaccio with grand fir aioli
-seasonal grilled veggies
You can add a bottle of Okanagan Crush Pad Narrative wine (White/Rose/Red) for an additional $30.00
At Beside Forage their West Coast themed Picnic 2 Go is priced at $42 and focuses on their BBQ cuisine. You get 2 boxes in this pack,
The first is:
Living Gem Lettuce Caesar Salad
And the second box comes with:
BBQ Ribs with our special sauce, fried chicken wings, deep fried cheese curds, and their famous Remix hot sauce for dipping!
You may want to add some local craft beer to go along with this pack!
Check out the complete lineup of restaurants and their menus here, then either make your advance patio reservations or order your picnic 2 go packs on the day you wish to dine and then head off to one of the pop up plazas or a nearby park or beach to enjoy your dinner!
