With it’s breathtaking views of the gardens and mountains beyond, the focus here is on Westcoast cuisine prepared with local, seasonal and organic ingredients whenever possible. I have dined here a couple of time over the past months. I have enjoyed a wide selection of dishes. Pan Fried Stuffed Squid ($7.50) chorizo sausage, Mediterranean vegetables, nicoise butter was full of flavour as was the Roasted Bone Marrow ($13.50) brown butter cepe risotto. The starter that I had on my most recent visit was the Wild Nettle & Ricotta Gnudi ($9) with white asparagus, smoked paprika, béchamel in a bowl.
The Olive Oil & Ginger Poached Haida Gwaii Halibut ($34) with green tea reduction, grilled baby leeks, crispy beets, brown butter daikon purée was a standout as was both the Octopus as well as the Beef Tenderloin with prawn and waffle cut cips.
For dessert, the Fresh Fruit & Marscapone Cream ($8) with port, fresh mint is light and refreshing and the Summer Fig Cake ($8) with Bailey’s Ice Cream, wild berries is delicious.
The menu selections change as the seasons change based on the ingredients as they are available, this is a wonderful restaurant on campus to enjoy a fine dining approach to casual dining.
