Advice: Bring a friend or two and share the dishes.
Although the interior of the restaurant’s walls are red, this Northern Vietnamese café is named after the nickname of one of the owners Hong (childhood nickname was Red), the other owner of this gem is Rose, together the owners have a created a wonderful eatery in the heart of the East Village neighborhood. The extensive selection of dishes here are vibrant with flavour and quite colourful. I loved the Deep fried Crab Spring Rolls ($11.50) served on a large round platter with Vermicelli, bean sprouts, mixed herbs and sweet and sour fish sauce; followed by the delicious and flavourful Sweet and Sour Green Mango Salad ($7); along with the Vietnamese Sticky Rice ($5.50) with mung bean and fried shallots. Complimentary tea made with Pandan leaves is comforting, and filled upon request.
There are many other dishes worth trying on this menu such as their Vietnamese Soups, Subs and so much more. I am looking forward to returning soon to try more of these dishes and next time I am taking along a friend or two.
