I attended a media preview yesterday for the new Mahony & Sons at Stamps Landing in False Creek. This is the newest restaurant from the three Mahony brothers and it’s quite the flagship property.
Boasting a 300 seat patio on two levels surrounding the restaurant, it’s 10,000 square feet encompasses another 300 seats inside to make this one large two leveled restaurant. Key features include an oyster bar, double-sided fireplace and a private sunset patio facing the west side overlooking False Creek.
The chefs team is led Executive Chef Paul Nguyen as well as restaurant Chef Dave McLeod. Owned by brothers, Chris Mahony, Mike Mahony & Peter Jr. Mahony.
The millwork including the two-level back bar was produced in Ireland shipped to Vancouver and assembled by local tradespeople. The overall design is a blend of traditional and contemporary Irish influences with thoughtfully selected materials to create an authentic Irish feel.
Selection of taster sizes dishes off the menu that I enjoyed.
Scallop & Beet Arugula Salad Tossed with goat cheese, gingered pecans and roast shallot dressing.
Pacific coast Chowder Salt Spring Island mussels, salmon, cod and prawns in a lemon fennel cream broth with garlic toast.
Lee’s Lamb Dip Rosemary infused lamb with fig & fennel relish and mint aioli.
The Three Mahony brothers have built a first class establishment, which easily accessible by Aquabus (2 min ride from the Yaletown dock, near the Yaletown skytrain station) as well as a 3 minute walk from the Olympic Vilage skytrain station.
