Advice: You will want to sit upstairs for a cozy hideway dining experience or a seat on the outside patio.

Part fish market, part restaurant, this locale is a busy neighbourhood spot serving some of the finest seafood on the North Shore. On the fish market side you will find fresh fish from the sea as well as their crab cakes all done up and ready for you to cook up at home. On the restaurant side you will find lots of seating along with an extensive menu of seafood favourites and so much more.

PINKBERRY

860 Main Street, Park Royal Village, West Vancouver

Tel: n/a

Advice: The line-up is worth the wait.

I first discovered Pinkberry years ago in Los Angeles where this LA based Frozen Yogurt shop was born. From what I remember they offered 2 flavours the Original and Green Tea along with a huge variety of toppings. A month ago the first Pinkberry in Canada opened in West Vancouver and it’s the same as I remember and then some. I visited recently and tasted all of the 6 flavours before deciding on the Coconut and Chocolate served side by side in a Medium dish ($6.25).

Frozen Yogurt and lots of toppings

Then the fun began choosing which of the toppings from the 30 selections to choose from, I knew that I could choose as many toppings that would fit around and on top of the Frozen Yogurt dish. I topped it off with raspberries, chocolate chips, mocha, chocolate flakes, captain crunch, heath bars, and then finished it off with a drizzle of caramel.

Pinkberry provides a social experience that indulges the senses with distinctive flavors that are expertly crafted to complement its daily fresh-cut fruit and premium toppings that together offer an incomparably refreshing taste. They have several different sizes by the dish or the cone and your kids can even get a childrens size. I have already been back for my 2nd visit having the Mango topped with more of the Captain Crunch along with more toppings!

Fraîche's Beef Burger

Autumn Chicken Salad

Stunning views of the city below, this is a wonderful restaurant for a daytime or night’s visit. I have had the pleasure to dine here a few times and each has been a memorable experience. Not only are the views spectacular, great food and wonderful service make the dining experience one that you will not forget. I had lunch recently with my friend Nikki and we were fortunate to have a window table. I had the tasty Fraîche’s Beef Burger ($16) caramelized onions, pancetta, aged cheddar cheese, sea salted fries in a very nice iron pan. Nikki had the Autumn Chicken Salad ($18) confit chicken, mixed greens, ripe pear, pumpkin, walnut dressing.

Chocolate Hennesey XO Fondant Cake & Ice Cream

We couldn’t pass up dessert as the whole dessert menu looked fabulous. We shared the outstanding Chocolate Hennesey XO Fondant Cake & Ice Cream ($12) with brandied prune gelato and apricot purée and the coveted Hennessy XO. The lunch and dinner menus are quite different, since on this visit we were in for lunch, the menu featured a selection of salads, pasta, risotto and other specialties. Already looking forward to my next visit, may check out the weekend Brunch!

SAVARY ISLAND

1533 Marine Drive, West Vancouver

Tel: Tel: 604-926-4021

Web: n/a

Advice: Come hungry, if the place is full it is worth waiting for a seat.

Pies

They have one of the best Grilled Cheese Sandwiches in the city, moreover one of the best pies selections too. Anytime I find myself in the neighborhood, I’ve dropped by for a visit to admire the pies, have a coffee and read the paper. This bustling bakery/café is always full of people eating great sandwiches, sipping lattes or indulging in slices of pie. They bake their own breads, and several different types of pies daily.

Grilled Cheese

Lemon Buttermilk Berry Pie

On my last visit I had the Grilled Cheese ($9.50) on their Italian bread with cheese, tomatoes and onions, crispy and grilled to perfection. I also had a slice of their Lemon Buttermilk Berry Pie ($4.95). They have a good selection of other sandwiches that can be grilled or not, soups, salads and a whole range of baked goods including the most delicious pies. There at least 10 different types of pies made fresh daily, by the slice or by the pie. For an extra $1.50 you can add a scoop of ice cream to your pie. Have a latte or a cup of tea, find a seat, read a newspaper and enjoy.
