With carefully layered flavors and an intimate setting, Kama represents the more elevated side of Calgary’s restaurant culture while still feeling distinctly local. Lawrence and I shared the Beef brisket, broccoli salad, and cornbread, which all went well with their complimentary barbq sauces, my favourite was the Espresso bbq sauce.

No conversation about Calgary institutions would feel complete without Luke’s Drug Mart @lukesdrugmart . More than just a pharmacy, Luke’s has evolved into a beloved neighborhood hub that blends old-school charm with modern café culture. Visitors can pick up vinyl records, local products, snacks, and coffee all in one stop, making it one of the city’s most uniquely Calgary experiences. Calgary’s oldest pharmacy, family-owned and independent for 75 years in the Bridgeland neighbourhood. I came for their Softserve, a twist of vanilla and choco-banana.

There are many more neighbourhoods filled with great cafes and restaurants and I look forward to discover more on future visits.
