An Indian Feast at Tasty Indian Bistro in Yaletown

It’s been over 5 years since my last visit and it’s as good as I remember. Lawrence joined me and we had a feast trying many dishes including many that were new.

Loved the tableside flambe Sharaabi Murgh Achari that created a wow from all seated around us, the chicken is lightly spiced and cooked in the tandoor.  Chilli fish with a crispy battered fish tossed with house-made sweet and spicy sauce.

Tandoori lamb chops arrived to the table sizzling, loved the rub of Indian spices and tender lamb.

The Lemon Chicken is a new addition to the menu and this dish was outstanding and one of my favourites, it’s a curry with chicken that has a hint of lemon. Chicken Lababdar is a new dish to me and it is bone-in chicken cooked in caramelized onions, nuts, and Indian spices. Fish Korma is a tasty curry cooked in an onion and cashew gravy. Our server recommended this dish which was very good, the Kadahi Lamb cooked with tomatoes, onions and spices.

Kalonji Naan is a new bread addition, and it is smothered with onion seeds infused butter, loved this. Lacha Paratha is a wholewheat bread which I have often, layered with butter baked in the tandoor.

We got a couple of vegetable dishes, the tasty Bhindi Do Piazza okra cooked with onions, tomatoes and spices; and the Aloo Gobhi with cauliflower cooked with spices and potatoes.

We also had the Vegetable biryani which was a spicy rice dish cooked with vegetables and spices. This went will with some of the Indian salad and raita.

It was then time to have a couple of desserts to finish off our feast. Both were good but quite different. The Cardamom dream bar is a dream with cardamom-infused white chocolate mousse, spiced sponge cake, white chocolate glaze, served with kulfi ice cream; The Falooda is a kulfi dessert layered with condensed milk, noodles with rose syrup, topped with dry fruits.

Tasty Indian Bistro is located at 1261 Hamilton Street in Vancouver.
