Food and Music at the 47th Annual Folk Music Festival

During the weekend of July 19-21, 2024 I enjoyed countless hours listening to music from musicians who performed at the 47th Annual Vancouver Folk Music Festival that was held at Jericho Beach Park. In addition to the music, I enjoyed some tasty food during the festival weekend by trying some of the dishes the food vendors were selling.

I loved the Tofu Dragon Bowl and the Chicken Dragon Bowl from The Dragon Bowl, this was one of the most popular vendors with a long, quick moving lineup throughout most of the festival.

This years festival was one of the best in years; with many new musical discoveries. Highlights include my interview with Zar Electrik from Marseille, France along great music by Leif Vollebekk, Krut, Etran de L’Air, The Wood Brothers, Dobet Gnahore, BuenRostro and more.

The festival did a great job pairing it’s world music with many cuisines to match. For one of our other meals we enjoyed the Honey Garlic Fried Chicken Sandwich from The Frying Pan.

For another meal we tried Mugi for their Plant-based Thai food and had the Green Curry Tofu.

For dessert on one of the nights, we had the Chimney Cake Gelato Sundaes from Slavic Rolls.
