Around Metro Vancouver exploring Food markets and Eateries in the Honda HR-V

I recently spent a week test driving the Honda HR-V 2024 car around Vancouver while visiting some markets and eateries in Vancouver.

There are all sorts of different markets around the city from seafood to vegetable/fruit markets to ethnic food and so much more.

I visited 7 Seas Fish Market in Kitsilano on 4th Avenue to get some wild Sockeye salmon fillets to take home to cook. The market features all types of fish and seafood that’s either fresh or frozen. They also have other products that you can use in your cooking.

I decided that I wanted to eat at home a little more and that cooking and supporting the local markets over the chains was the way to go.

I also visited Carley Quality Meat in Chinatown for great prices on vegetables and fruits on Georgia Street. I picked up some snap peas, eggplant, sweet potatoes, green beans, onions, potatoes and oranges.

I made some baked salmon along with snap peas and potatoes.

The car has good driveability, a smooth ride, and comfortable seating. A few things that I liked in this model was the great fuel economy, econo mode, wireless phone charger, and multiple USB charging outlets.

The next night was set for some more cooking and this time it was vegetable forward as I made some blistered Asian Green Beans and some oven-roasted vegetables.

The next day I visited Gastronomy Gastown to try the delicious and creative Prince and the Pea pizza by Chef Selim Dahmane. The pizza draws inspiration from Chef Selim’s heritage, which spans between Morocco and France. It features an English pea cream base on top of the Neapolitan Pizza Dough (fermented over three days), it has Chermoula sauce which provides the Moroccan flavours, topped with 4 different cheeses, lardo, and is topped with crushed hazelnuts.

While there we also had their House Salad with marcona almonds, Broccoli Caesar, Lamb kefta meatballs, Jerusalem artichoke and the 20 layer lasagna and the Tiramisu and Deconstructed Lemon tart for dessert. Took a loaf of the house-made Sourdough bread to go.

The next night I visited Pizza Rubato Napolotana on West Broadway in the Cambie Village neighbourhood to try Chef Ahmet’s Pistacchio Virtuoso pizza for our 10th Annual Vancouver Pizza Challenge where he created a 3.0 version of his popular Pistachio pizza adding some extra special ingredients for this challenge. They make a house-made pistachio pesto and then …..

The ingredients that elevate the pIstachio pizza are the fresh, milky Burrata that’s imported from Southern Italy and the Speck DOP from Südtirol-Alto Adige (in the Alps where the Italian and the Austrian cultures meet and mix) comes along adding a smoky, savoury flavor to this pizza. Some chili-infused honey and cayenne pepper are there to spice things up a bit.

The HR-V car has a great selection of buttons on the drive side for easy accessibility. Also has a roomy front area. The car also had an easy to operate entertainment system.

I really enjoyed the Honda HR-V 2024 was a great car to drive and around Vancouver.
