Field Trip Staycation to the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown

“FieldTrips” is either a day trip or a few days where I visit food areas of interest which may include farm visits, producers, wineries, restaurants and/or other places that people can visit. This is about offering Vancouver Foodster readers a chance to get out of town and take a “Field Trip” for the day or a few days to explore, learn, taste and experience.

Field Trip Staycation to the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown Hotel

The rooms are spacious and comfortable and feature a mini-refrigerator, working desk, and are air-conditioned. Our room had a comfy king-bed along with an incredible view of the North Shore mountains and Coal Harbour.

Lawrence and I did a staycation in our home city of Vancouver for a little break on a rainy weekend. Room 3120 was located on the top floor of the hotel.

Inside the hotel there’s also a beautiful health club open 24/7 which currently has to be booked in advance with the front desk for guests’ use.

The one restaurant that is located on the main floor of the hotel is Showcase Restaurant and they offer breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. We had a wonderful dinner here, started off with their delicious Lemongrass Prawn Chowder with carrots, potatoes, coconut, crispy onions chili oil, and grilled bread; along with the Westcoast Greens with pickled onion, cucumber, wonton crisps sesame mirin vinaigrette.

One of the new dishes on the menu was this outstanding Seared Ling Cod & Prawns in a delicious coconut miso broth, scallion rice cake, mushrooms, baby bok; we also enjoyed the tasty Grilled Sockeye Salmon with tarragon emulsion, herb potatoes, broccolini, pickled mustard.

They go above and beyond with their desserts, we shared the yummy Warm Apple Galette with house made vanilla ice cream; along with the German Chocolate Mousse cake a very rich dessert with coconut, caramel cream, coconut ice cream and a chocolate cake base in a glass.

The morning view after a restful night before heading to breakfast.

Back to Showcase Restaurant for breakfast with coffees and juices to start. I then enjoyed the Loaded Breakfast Bowl (replaced the eggs with avocado as I don’t like eggs) kale, breakfast potatoes, tarragon buttermilk dressing, tomatoes, feta, bacon; this was very tasty. Lawrence had the All Canadian with two eggs, sausage breakfast potatoes, sautéed onions, and tomatoes.
