Jess Restaurant opened 2 months ago in the Kerrisdale neighbourhood specializing in French Asian Cuisine.
The restaurant is founded by Jessica Kim and this is her first restaurant of a few that are planned to opened in the Vancouver area within the coming year. The interiors are beautiful, designed by a firm in Korea; the string lights were hung one by one by the staff taking 9 days to complete.
The washrooms are equally stunning, each one is a bit different. The Woman’s washroom is a stunner with the gold wall tiles being imported from Italy and the toilets with it’s heated seats were brought in from Japan, this is a washroom you are never going to want to leave.
Executive Chef Pierre Vuylsteke leads the kitchen and the various services that include lunch, afternoon tea, happy hour and dinner daily.
I have tried several dishes here including these starters the beautiful Thai Beet Salad with burrata cheese, nut granola, greens, chili lime vinaigrette; along with the JESS House Salad with mixed greens, radish, pickled vegetables, ricotta cheese, croutons. I loved the Japanese Style Soufflé Kyoku twice-baked, prawns, grana padano parmesan.
The Japanese Cod was outstanding with pan fried rock cod, soba noodles, dash broth, daikon, shiitake mushrooms; as was the Korean Style Grilled Flat Iron Steak 8 oz, soy marinated, broccolini, fingerling potatoes, chimichurri, sea salt; we also shared a side of the Grilled Seasonal Vegetables (broccolini, carrots, squash) almonds & grana padano parmesan.
Their pastry chef has been creating beautiful desserts, I tried this selection, and my favourites were the Hazelnut Mascarpone puffs, along with the Deconstructed cheesecake with cherries and blueberries, also tried the Raspberry Macarons and the Tiramisu.
