Spring Menu Tasting at Restaurant 62

It has been a few years since my last visit to Chefs Matthew Nichols and Jeff Massey notable Fraser Valley restaurant. They pride themselves in offering seasonally changing innovative dishes using as much local ingredients as possible.

1st dish:

The Farm House Fromage Frais

The Farm House Fromage Frais with stinging nettle vinaigrette, red fife granola, flavourful

2nd dish:

Red Snapper in a stinging nettle broth

Red Snapper in a stinging nettle broth, loved the use of nettle in this dish.

3rd dish:

Northern Lite Rice Risotto

Northern Lite Rice Risotto with kale and spring vegetables, the rice was locally grown in Abbotsford making for a very local dish.

4th dish:

Red Snapper

Red Snapper pan-fried with stinging nettle gnocchi, asparagus; another dish celebrating stinging nettle.

5th dish:


Steelhead with buckwheat tabbouleh, rutabaga purée, beet, brown butter; I loved the flavours of the fish and the rutabaga in this dish.

6th dish:

Pistachio & Grape

Pistachio & Grape – Grape semifreddo, pistachio sponge cake, meringue, creme fraiche ice cream; my favourite of the two desserts.

7th dish:


S’mores Chocolate cremeux, graham cracker feuilletine, marshmallow, smoked creme anglaise; a deconstructed almost playful version.
