Yearning to learn more about Korean cuisine and it’s culture, I have recently been exploring some of the different areas of the city that house notable Korean eateries. One of which is the Lower Lonsdale area of North Vancouver, here owners/chefs Bobby Shin and David Jo run the kitchen along with it’s creative menu focussing on traditional dishes turned up a notch. This was a great restaurant for sharing dishes allowing for the opportunity to try more.
The dining room is large with 130 seats and it’s brightly lit which works with the enjoyment factor to enjoy their homestyle comforting fare. I loved the complimentary dish which comes with standard Korean accompaniements to a company each of the dishes, even though my friend and I were sharing we each received one of these dishes.
I loved the Korean Fried Chicken (KFC) with rice cake in a sweet red chili sauce, and coleslaw on the side; as well as the Crispy Gyoza with a delicious kimchi slaw and dipping sauce. The Japchae – sweet potato noodle, shitake mushrooms, soy marinated sirloin, seasonal veg. house special chilli oil was tasty and the Bibimbap Stone Rice Bowl was delicious once all mixed up and sizzling!
I can’t wait to return to try more of their dishes at this gem worth the drive across the bridges from the city.
