Advice: Communal tables for sharing, prepared foods for takeaway.
In France bread usually comes out of the ovens in the afternoon when people are heading home from work. Notable Bread baker Chris Brown (co-owner) and Bruno and Sally Born (co-owner also of Finest At Sea) are baking breads which are available by the gram or the slice all day long, with most of the loaves baked in the afternoon for people to take home fresh for the dinner table. Asides from the rustic breads, they are also baking all sorts of baked goodies including cookies, croissants, brioche and more!
I visited for lunch having the Veggie Gratin on Levain, an open faced sandwich with grilled vegetables and melted cheese. I then had a Gibralter Coffee, along with some treats including the tasty Kouign Amann made with layers of almonds and butter and a delicious Salted Chocolate Rye Cookie! The menu also features soups, salads, tartines and sandwiches; along with a takeaway section featuring preserves, prepared meals, cheeses and more.
Beautiful paintings line the brick adorned wall, large communal wooden tables available for sharing, the space is open and bright. Fraserhood is shining with this new bakery café, grab a book and settle in with a coffee and some treats!
