Hidden off of bustling Main street, this eatery is a gem, located inside an apartment on the main floor, this is where the owner previously lived for 15 years before she turned her living space into a bustling restaurant. Elizabeth is the hostess, server and owner who knows all her customers by name, she greets them as they arrive and as they leave. The room has got character, housed in an apartment building which was built in 1912, it’s filled with shelves of books, with music playing in the background, it’s a chance to enjoy the time away from work or home. A couple of sharing tables along with a couple tables for two. This lunch spot offers one or two mains each day, alongside one or two desserts, coffee and some cold drinks that’s it, the only way to know what the dish of the day is going to be is to follow them on Instagram where you will see what the dishes of the day will be approximately an hour before opening. Soulfood is the theme, that is Elizabeth’s family background and she calls it global soul food.

I finally visited for lunch the other day having the Coconut Barley Risotto with seared scallops, purple kale, greens, citrus with a coconut line dressing along with a piece of their Ozark Chocolate Cake for dessert which I took to go! This is a wonderful spot hidden inside the Mount Pleasant neighborhood, and would be a great spot for Sunday brunch, which I hope they start soon, looking forward to my next visit!
