Yesterday I kicked off summer in style on the patio of Market at the Shangri-La Hotel downtown Vancouver, joined by my friend Kenji Maeda. Bubbles, Beats & Brunch takes places every weekend all summer long featuring an array of flavourful dishes, cocktails and live music with a dj spinning lively tunes.

If you decide to go the cocktail route, and if you are a Caesars lover like my friend Kenji, you should choose make your own Caesar, a server brings around their trolley and you select whichever ingredients and garnishes you fancy.

For dessert which is a must have anytime dining here, I had a Root Beer Float ($8) with bourbon-vanilla ice cream and Boylan’s root beer making for quite the frothy experience; Kenji had a scoop of the Grapefruit Sorbet.
