Snowshoe Fondue on Grouse Mountain

One of the unique events that I attended in this years Dine Out Vancouver Festival was The Snowshoe Fondue held on top of Grouse Mountain on January 24th. This was the first time that Grouse Mountain had hosted this event which was a collaboration between them and The Dairy Farmers of Canada.

Guests took the gondola from the base to the top of Grouse Mountain where they were taken on a one hour guided snowshoe tour through the trails and all the rental equipment was provided.

We then enjoyed a 3 course fondue dinner with all the fixin’s, the sharing tables were round and it was a great chance to meet new people, at my table there were some doctors from Australia who are working in Vancouver and they loved this event as much as me.

As guests entered they were served a complimentary glass of Prosecco. Cheeses were from Little Qualicum Cheeseworks and Fromagerie L’Ancetre which were in the Cheese Fondue as our 1st course, for dripping there was bread, cheese and vegetables.

The 2nd course featured a couple of hot broths with seafood (scallops and shrimp), chicken, meats for dipping and cooking.

The 3rd course was a Chocolate Fondue with fruit and cookies for dipping.

This was a fun and delicious night, I hope they offer this event again next year as it is one not to miss.
