As a fan of Chef Angus An and his Maenam Restaurant, it was a must that I trek a bit further East which I did recently taking the skytrain to New Westminster to visit his new eatery, Longtail Kitchen located in the River Market. Named for the iconic Thai water taxis of the same name, Longtail’s menu stays true to traditional methods and flavours, with dishes spotlighting fresh foods from BC. My friend and fellow food writer Cassandra Anderton joined me to share many dishes as we explored the Thai menu.

I loved the refreshing Papaya Salad ($6) as well as the Crispy Longtail Chicken Wings($8) and the delicious dipping sauce.

We also shared the Fried Oysters ($6) delish Pad Thai with prawns ($10) along with three outstanding dishes being the Changmai style Chicken Curry Noodle ($10), fresh Turmeric Curry of Lingcod and Mussels ($10) and the Northern style Grilled Hen ($12).
Doubling as a retail space, Longtail Kitchen sells spices, sauces, and kits for noodle dishes. After hours, Longtail Kitchen switches gears, opening its doors for cooking classes and chef dinners which is going to be an exciting addition to this wonderful Thai eatery in the market.
