I recently embarked on a challenge of sorts and tried a relatively new service, at least a service I was unfamiliar with in Vancouver dining. It is more about eating out at home than eating out in a restaurant. Indishpensable has been around for over 2-1/2 years, it is a unique service based in Kitsilano that allows people to pick up a package of pre chopped, marinated season and local ingredients. Each package includes easy to follow instructions to make a home cooked meal on par with fine dining in a restaurant.
I had the Chipotle Lime Chicken Breasts with Roasted Corn Salsa served with grilled flat bread and cumin sour cream for ($28) and served 2 people. Most of their ingredients are sourced locally from local farmers, and meat producers and their chef creates new menu items fairly often.
I think this is a great service and I also like their idea of Wine Pairing and the discount relationship they have in place with Kitsilano Wine Cellar at 2235 West 4th Avenue. This makes your eating experience even easier as now you know which wine would be best paired with the dish that you are going to eat for dinner. They even offer a delivery service to various areas of greater Vancouver if you are unable to pickup on your own.
You can find them on the web at http://www.indish.ca/ or follow then on twitter at http://twitter.com/myindish
Note: They don’t provide nutritional information for the meals as this is quite involved work, however if you have particular question you should ask one of their staff.
