Located nearby English Bay, Vera and Ziggy serve up their Bulgarian specialties. One of the house favorites is the ‘Spinach & Feta Banitza’ which can be described as a fillo slice of pizza but it is not. ‘Banitza’ is prepared by layering a mixture of whisked eggs and pieces of feta cheese between Fillo pastry and then baked in an oven. The cafe is small, cozy and has a wonderful warm ambience. Serving Caffe D’arte coffees, the pastry case showcases their Bulgarian sweets, popular is the ‘Pumpkin Banitza’ made with shredded pumpkin, pecans, cinnamon and sugar; ‘Baklava’ and the ‘Chocolate Mouse in Fillo’.
