Exploring and Eating in Saskatoon

Saskatoon is the largest city in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, located along the South Saskatchewan River in the central part of the province. It’s known for its natural beauty, cultural diversity, and strong prairie identity. They have a growing culinary scene and are known for farm-to-table dining, craft breweries, and a growing Indigenous cuisine presence.

While in Saskatoon, I visited four different restaurants for lunch or dinner that were all very good at what they do in both food and ambience.

Located in the heart of the Riversdale community, the restaurant highlights Saskatchewan farmers and producers with their global inspired cuisine. @loqui.yxe (located at 312 Avenue C S, Saskatoon) for a delicious lunch where we shared the Loqui salad, Living Caesar salad and the Tuna tartare.

Specializing in Italian cuisine with home-made pasta made from Saskatchewan grain;
@primal_pasta (located at 423 20th St W, Saskatoon) celebrated my birthday over dinner at this popular Italian eatery with Lawrence, I had the Kale salad while he had the Beets salad, I then had the delicious Pickerel for the first time while he had the Bison and we then shared the Cavatelli that was made with local Saskatchewan grain. We had the Pavolva for dessert.

@caloriesrestaurant (721 Broadway Ave, Saskatoon) I had dinner with the @travelmediaca conference dine around group, a delicious 3 course meal with a Roasted Asparagus and Trout salad, Farm One Forty Lamb Duo and a Saskatoon berry lemon yogurt cheesecake for dessert.

@piquecafeyxe (located at 130 4th Avenue North, Saskatoon) a great spot that is owned by the chef that also owns Calories restaurant. I had the Green Goddess salad with tuna, and a Curried potato hand pie.

Spent a few days tasting my way around Saskatoon cafes between downtown and the Broadway District and these were the spots I visited and the treats I had.

Visited @thenightoven (located at 216 ave D north, Saskatoon) for a Matcha latte, and shared some of the tasty baked goods (almond croissant and the babka) with Lawrence. Also picked up a Sesame bagel and a loaf of their wholegrain bread to go. They bake their products with Saskatchewan grains and mill their own flour, they also roast their own coffee beans.

Visited @museocoffee (located at 730A Broadway Ave, Saskatoon) where we both had their Japanese Cold Brew coffees. They roast their own coffee beans at this popular coffee bar.

Back @piquecafeyxe (located at 130 4th Avenue North, Saskatoon) and this time for an Iced matcha latte; they do all their baking in house and pretty much everything is made from scratch, there is lots of seating as well.

Visited @outofordercoffee (located at 255 2nd Ave S, Saskatoon) a very cool concept, it is a living wage, no tipping cafe and they are one of 3 businesses operating in the same space. I had a Cortado here.

There are many more great restaurants and cafes in the city to discover.
