I was hoping to travel to Italy this Summer and as that didn’t materialize, I had a chance to Summer like an Italian with Kitchen Table Restaurants without leaving Vancouver while we visited 3 out of 10 of their Italian restaurants. Everyone who participates has a chance to win amazing prizes just for dining at any of their 10 Italian restaurants like the ones that we visited which were Caffe Super Veloce, Carlino Restaurant and Motoretta Gelato.
We started the day at Caffe Super Veloce where we got super charged up, we both had the
Carro Veloce (espresso, oak milk and mct powder) iced for Richard, hot for Lawrence. We then tried a selection of their protein enriched donuts which are called Pronuts, we had all of the flavours and my favourites were the vanilla cherry, chocolate pistachio, followed by the plain chocolate and chocolate coconut. We also tried both bars, the tasty Chocolate bounty bar and Protein bar.
From there it was a 10 minute walk over to Carlino Restaurant where we visited for lunch.
This is such a lovely restaurant and one of my favourites for Italian cuisine, here Chef Isaac Ko started us off with some of his tasty savoury tarts.
We started off with the popular Insalata di Cavolo Nero; followed by the Sea bass Crudo.
Both the Halibut with bottarga cream, tuscan kale, zucchini; and the Salmone al tartufo Nero with black truffle crusted salmon, ricotta gnocchi, zucchini; were outstanding.
Afterwards we devoured a couple of pasta dishes, the Francoboli with beef cheeks with bone marrow sauce; as well as the Capunti Verde with morels.
We finished off with their delicate Cannoli and their traditional Tiramisu.
On to the 3rd and final stop for the day, it was a 10 minute walk over to Motoretta Gelato.
Here Salvatore and his team make the most delicious gelato, sorbetto and granita and we tried some of each.
I had the Sicilian almond gelato and the Pistachio sorbetto; Lawrence had the Mango sorbetto and Cantaloupe melon sorbetto.
We then both tried their new refreshing Lemon granita and Blueberry granita.
