Specializing in the spirit of Southern food with the heart of the West Coast behind it, this restaurant opened a few months ago during the pandemic.
Located inside The Executive Hotel Vancouver Airport in Richmond, the restaurant is owned by the hotel.
I have tried a selection of items off the dinner menu along with a couple non-spirit cocktails from the bar which includes:
Carrot Ginger Elixer (non-spirit cocktail) carrot juice, ginger, lemon, mint; and the Strawberry Sun (non-spirit cocktail) strawberry & honey syrup, lemon juice, celery bitters, ginger beer.
Loved the Crispy Vegies dish with brussels sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli, kale, lemon, parmesan, feta, pumpkin seeds; and the Taters & gravy smashed baby potato, Nashville spice, feta, honey, sour cream, green onion, chicken gravy. Also tried the Crunchy Greens mesclun, cherry tomato, corn bread croutons, black pepper, feta, pumpkin seed, quinoa, sherry vinaigrette.
The Nashville Hot chicken Sandwich was my favourite with its spicy dry rub, pickles, coleslaw, chipotle mayo; followed by the Blackened salmon crispy nugget potato, farmers market veg, spiced maple butter.
Families will love the Family Bundle with the Whole crispy fried buttermilk chicken, crispy veggies, coleslaw, corn bread, and taters for $59.
For dessert, my favourite of the two I tried was the Okanagan apple pie flaky butter pastry, cinnamon poached apples, vanilla ice cream; also had the Bananas foster sundae (flambed at the table) with caramelized bourbon bananas, dark chocolate brownie, vanilla ice cream.
This restaurant offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, and happy hour.
Free Bird Table & Bar is located at 5991 Alderbridge Way in Richmond.
