Advice: Reservations suggested for dinner, walkins welcome.
With it’s Italian focus, this casual eatery is not only specializing in pizzas and roast dishes but they are also featuring other dishes that emphasize enjoying delicious Italian food amongst friends. The dining room is a beauty with it’s high ceilings and tall windows around from the café side throughout the dining area; it’s spacious and there is also a private room for larger parties.
The day starts early on the café side and then the dining room opens for lunch, happy hour and dinner. I have visited a few times since their early summer opening; loved the bright flavoured Bruschetta with Tomatoes, fresh basil, garlic; along with the outstanding Farro & Cannellini Salad with Roasted vegetables, onions, arugula, seeds and cheese that is sure to please all.
The Romaine, with anchovies, garlic and lemon is a popular salad as is the Panzanella Salad with toasted sourdough, tomatoes, red onion.
I loved all the roast dishes that I tried from the delicious Roasted Chicken served as a Half chicken, with very good potatoes; along with the very good Braised Wagyu, similar to a braised short rib with roasted potatoes, peas, and a wine jus; along with their Roasted Sablefish with caponata, cannellini beans, and salmoriglio.
For sides, I loved the Caponata which was perfectly seasoned as well as the addictive Roasted Eggplant, and the Asparagus all are great for sharing.
The star here are the pizzas, done out of their special pizza oven, the dough is light and the toppings work so well. I loved the Spicy Meatballs pizza with Fior di Latte, tomatoes, meatballs, parmigiano, chili flake; followed by the tasty Italian Sausage & Rapini Pizza with fior di Latte, white sauce, house made sausage. For a vegetarian offering, their Mushroom pizza with Fior di Latte, cremini, porcini, parmigiano, truffle oil is also a standout.
As dessert is a must in any Italian restaurant, they have a small selection, my favourite was the delicious Tiramisu followed by the Mango Ice and the Lemon Mousse.
You will find a full on espresso bar, wines by the glass or bottle, along with some local craft brews and popular Italian cocktails to accompany your meal at this Mount Pleasant gem.
