Advice: Mild or spicy – you choose. Expect to wait a bit for a table at dinner on weekends.
Located in Steveston area of South Richmond, my friend Sherri took me to this festive Mexican restaurant that was decorated with hanging colorful piñatas on the ceiling, sombreros and other Mexican favors. The menu selection is quite vast including enchiladas, burritos, tacos. I had the Chicken Enchiladas ($10.95) Two lightly fried corn tortillas dipped in our own Pipian sauce then filled with a blend of cheeses, onion, chives and olives on request.(mild); my friend had the Beef Chimichanga ($9.95) a large 12″ tortilla filled with lettuce, cheese, refried beans, & homemade green chile. All rolled up & grilled to perfection. Served with a crisp garden salad. For dessert I had Bueniullos – A scoop of vanilla ice cream sitting in the middle of a crispy sweet flour tortilla drizzled with Cajaeta sauce & icing sugar. (Sweet) and my friend had their Special Dessert – deep fried caramel cheesecake with a scoop of vanilla ice scream. The waitresses provided fast and friendly service, my only complaint was that the complimentary basket of chips and salsa could have had better tasting chips. If you live in or are visiting Richmond and have a craving for Mexican then this Little Mexican Cantina will hit the spot.
