Advice: Choose your persona or which persona you would like to be for the day in your choice of tea.

The Artist

The colours of the tea café are vibrant and inviting, not your traditional tea boutique, a unique tea experience is offered where you can connect, think, write and celebrate.  In addition to more than a dozen tempting, estate blended teas, you can partake in the daily tea service while perusing a selection of baked offerings, sweets and other tea-worthy treats.

The Artist (iced white tea)

Mango Chicken Wrap

Macarons on outside and Society hostess vanilla sugar cookie with Reese’s peanut butter cookie on inside

On my recent visit I had an iced version of The Artist a white tea flavoured with ginger, previously I had a hot version of The Writer and Indian spiced chai. Choosing the tea whether hot or iced is as fun here as is indulging in the wraps, sandwiches and sweets. I also had their Mango Chicken Wrap as well as a selection of sweets that included a Natural beauty Macaron with cinnamon notes and a Society hostess vanilla sugar cookie with Reese’s peanut butter cookie both were delicious.

Take a friend or a book and enjoy your afternoon at Salon Tea.

Advice: Follow them on twitter for daily open hours and location. Complimentary chai.

With their own tandoor oven on board their mobile food truck, they make freshly baked naan each day along with their tandoori chicken and beef seekh kebabs.

Butter Chicken Naan Wrap

Beef Seekh

On my first visit I had the Butter Chicken Naan Wrap ($7.50) full of tasty butter chicken, vegetables and sauce and on my second visit I had the Beef Seekh ($8) the beef is full of Indian spices that have been cooked into the meat in their tandoor, served with some secret sauces and then rolled up into a wrap.

The naan here is the star attraction, moist, soft, lightly charred and made on the spot in their tandoor oven.  Sarb and his uncle are gracious hosts and they serve complimentary chai while you wait for your freshly made naan wraps. Look for the black trailer on the side walk and make sure you visit for some of there rockstar Naan!

Advice: Follow them on twitter for daily open hours and location.

Imagine that you are somewhere in the Middle East and are craving some of their regional flavours. Now transport yourself downtown Vancouver to the center of the universe as we know it. Specializing in mid-east barbq, these flavours will delight your tastebuds! One of the owners, Mark Cohen is a Welder by trade and he custom designed and built this food truck. The other owner Phyllis Cornacchia is a chef by profession who designed the menu. Between the two, they are serving up a tasty wrap to spice up your tastebuds and fill you up with healthy, yummy goodness.

Chicken Shishlik

I had the Chicken Shishlik ($7) a large wrap filled with Rossdown Farms grilled Chicken skewers on taftoon, a traditional soft Iranian flatbread filled with deliciousness with hummus, tahini and tabbouleh along with Moroccan spiced carrots, beets, and some pickled vegetables, sauces and spices imported from Israel.

These Shishliks come with chicken or beef, you will also find a home-made Limonana ($2) which is their version of a Lemonade. Personally I love the concept as well as the flavours and truly hope they will expand their menu offerings. In case you were wondering as well, Mangal means Barbq in Hebrew.

Advice: Better value if you have the Chopped Water to stay. Starter size salad is good for one person, the full salad is good for 2 to share or for next day eating.

Sunshine Salad

Love this spot, I have been in several times to eat-in or take-out. I have had the delicious Baja Quesadillas ($9.50) Cajun chicken, black bean corn salsa and cheddar served with dip and salsa; the Vegetarian Quesadillas ($9.50) veggies, cranberries and cheese. Love the chef designed salads and I have had the Chopped Signature Salad (full salad $10.50) grilled chicken, romaine, onion, cranberries, feta and croutons with balsamic; but I have fallen in love with their Sunshine Salad (starter size $6.75) grilled chicken, spring mix, cucumbers, mozzarella, avocado and apples with goddess dressing. The Chopped Water ($1.50) is naturally flavoured and includes free refills. You can also design your own salads and wraps and choose from a large selection of healthy proteins, greens, cheeses, choppings and dressings. There is also soups, breakfast options as well as a kid’s menu.

Advice: Nutritional guide is on the shelf for your looking pleasure. Free parking located nearby in the Kerrisdale parkade.
I have eaten here several times over the past couple of weeks, for a healthy lunch this is the place to go. I love the BBQ Chicken Wrap ($8.95) filled with romaine lettuce, tomato, corn, black beans, cucumber, cheddar & jack cheese, bbq chicken with ranch dressing; and the Chinese Chicken Wrap ($8.95) filled with spinach, mandarin oranges, cucumber, edamame, red pepper, teriyaki chicken with ginger sesame dressing and so far these are my favourite lunchtime wraps that I have been taking to go. The menu selection is extensive with all sorts of different wraps and fillings, salads, soups and chili. They make their own Healthee bagels with all sorts of breakfast and lunch toppings that can be custom made into your own bagel sandwich. You will also find muffins such as the Super Fruit Muffin ($2.50) which I have had as well along with cookies, bars and more.

Wrap To Go

On the liquid side there are Healthee smoothies, juices, and espresso beverages. I hear children sizes of wraps will be on the menu soon, so your kids or your friends kids or the kids at heart will be able to eat Healthee too!
