Honey Cake

Honey Cake

A Turkish Delight, a café on the edge of Yaletown that specializes in Turkish Coffee, made just like it should be made with a little milk or without and with a little sugar. I had my Turkish Coffee made with a little sugar and no milk. You will want to try their Vegi Borek ($7), baked fresh daily, savoury Turkish treat that is perfect for lunch or dinner or in between. They bake a variety of other tasty Turkish treats including honey cake ($2), baklava ($2) and other pastries. The menu also features breakfast items, Panini, sandwiches, soups, desserts and the beverage line-up includes exotic fruit smoothies as well as espresso, cappuccino and lattes. The décor is of a typical home in Turkey, in this large space you enter the living room on you way and see framed art displayed on the turqois walls. Live music some nights.

MELRICHES

Melriches

1244 Davie Street, Vancouver
Tel: 604-689-5282

Advice: sit inside or outside on the back patio.

Located on bustling Davie, Melriches has been a neighborhood favorite for many years, they really know how to serve the community. From comfortable seating to great people watching to a great selection of food there is something here for everyone. The pastry cases are full of baked goods such as tempting muffins, cinnamon buns, and cookies such as chocolate chip which is my favorite. For beverages there is a complete line-up of coffees, hot chocolate and tea, I like the London Fog as well as their selection of herbal teas. They serve coffee from Bean around the World and they make a good double espresso. If you are visiting during breakfast or lunch there is a good selection of sandwiches both grilled and non-grilled and if you are here in the late afternoon or evening they even offer Granville Island beer on tap as well as a few other brands of bottled beer and wines by the glass.
