Fish Tacos

Halibut & Chips

This bright blue food truck is a spin-off of their popular sustainable 100% Ocean Wise fresh seafood shop, the Daily Catch located on the drive, and they are known to have some of the best and freshest fish around. The menu on the truck is fairly simple and the star attraction is the Fish & Chips, you can choose from cod, salmon or halibut and you can select 1 piece, 2 piece or add on an extra piece and more fries if that is your fancy. On my visit I had the Fish Tacos ($8) 2 delish fish tacos with crunch, filled with crispy panko crusted cod, shredded cabbage, tomato salsa, and chipotle aioli in a soft corn tortilla; along with the Halibut & Chips ($13.50) 2 pieces of ale battered halibut, served with fries, coleslaw, tartar and pickle. The chef has created a selection of home-made vinegars and I loved the Rosemary Vinegar the most, make sure you dash some of this on your fries!

West Coast Salmon Perogies

I have fond memories of Uncle Bill’s Perogies from many years ago, those perogies were authentic and traditional. Fast forward to now, you can’t miss the bright blue Holy Perogy truck, there perogies are filled with your not so traditional fillings in the home-made perogies, you will find a unique twist on the traditional perogies. I had the West Coast Salmon Perogies ($10) which were filled with smoked salmon and topped with caramelized onions and drizzled with dill sour cream and capers, these were heavenly and delicious. You will also find a selection of changing menu items such as the Italian, Mexican, and their popular Potato/Cheddar variety, these are worldly perogies!

Roasted Beet Fries

Steam Bun

Serving modern Asian cuisine on a food truck, owners Chef Clement Chan & Chef Steven Kuan are creating their own contemporary interpretation of classical Chinese cuisine. I first saw them last summer at the Richmond Night Market and then visited a few months later at their Georgia spot for some delish eats! I had the outstanding Roasted Beet Fries dusted with plum powder and spicy mayo along with the Steam Bun with bang bang sesame chicken, asian slaw, basil and cilantro.

There are offering new dishes all the time combining local seasonal ingredients with an abundant selection of high quality sustainable seafood and organic meats from B.C. They say it best, they want their customers to explore their culinary boundaries by pairing traditional Chinese offerings with new and refreshing flavours and textures. I would keep an eye out for this bright truck and for the new dishes these two chefs create.

Advice: Follow them on twitter for daily open hours and location.

Many know that I love Neapolitan style pizza and have some favourites around the city, Pazza Rella Pizza puts a different sort of spin into the mix. The Neapolitan style pizza that they make is in a wood burning oven that is on a food truck, very cool and a great experience. I have indulged in their pizza a couple of times already first last month at the Richmond Night Market and again last week at their spot in Coal Harbour.

Margerita Pizza

Salami Pizza

Harvest Pizza

Bianca Funghi Pizza

Nutella, Banana, Custard Pizza

At the Richmond Night Market, Nikki and I shared two pizzas, the Margerita (fior di latte cheese, tomato sauce, basil) and the Salami (salami, cheese, tomato sauce). On my other visit I indulged in several more pizzas on my own, the Harvest Pizza topped with (butternut & buttercup squash, walnuts, feta cheese, bechamel, and caramelized onions); Bianca Funghi Pizza (white mushrooms, green onions, béchamel sauce, parmesan cheese); Wild Salmon Bianca (local salted salmon with a white sauce); and lastly for dessert and unbelievably good Nutella, Banana, Custard Pizza. This was a lot of pizza and I couldn’t eat it all, so I took to go and enjoyed more delicious pizza at home over the next day.

This is a must experience food truck, make sure you get on down to their spot either in Coal Harbour or by following them around the city. The food truck is owned by two wonderfully passionate woman who strive to create a memorable Italiano experience at prices that are going to have you running for more!

Crispy Calamari Sub

Meatball Sub

Chicken Parmesan

Specializing in Italian this isn’t any ordinary truck with Italian fare, this is melt in your mouth goodness with great Italian flavours that you love. Their fine home cooking uses fresh local and organic products when available. I had their outstanding Crispy Calamari Sub ($9) filled with deep fried seasoned calamari, grilled lemon slices, red peppers and a secret sauce that is mouth-watering. I have also had their delish house specialty Meatball Sub ($9.50) 4 Homemade meatballs in marinara sauce, topped with Parmesan cheese, pesto mayo, and arugula, served on a freshly baked bun. I have also had their tasty and huge Chicken Parmesan($9.50) a chicken cutlet that is lightly breaded in a mixed herb batter and deep fried to perfection then topped with their homemade marinara sauce, Provolone cheese, sauteed onions, mushrooms and spicy marinated eggplant and served on a fresh Portuguese bun.

Cannoli

It’s often been difficult to find Cannoli around the city, I was happy to discover Cannoli ($5.50 for an order of 2) here is the dessert to round off a meal, their Cannoli is of course a bit more sophisticated and full of goodness!
