Best Foodie Events of 2012

I went to a lot of different food events, openings and parties during 2012 in and around Vancouver, here are my top 18 standouts of the year.

1)  2012 Gold Medal Plates was the most amazing gastronomic experience.

2) From Farms to Forks was the most entertaining event at the coolest venue that brought together some of the cities best chefs, restaurants and breweries.

3)  Hy’s Steakhouse celebrates 50 years was the best Restaurant Anniversary Party of the year.

4)  Feast of Fields 2012 at Golden Ears Cheese was the best afternoon of eating and drinking in the outdoors.

5)  Minami Restaurant Opening Party was the best restaurant opening of the year downtown Vancouver. 

6)  East of Main Café Opening was the best restaurant opening of the year outside of downtown Vancouver. 

7)  Eating Italian with Ricardo’s was the best Media Dinner & Cooking Party of the year.

8)  Roaming Dragon Tasting was the best Food Truck Media/VIP Menu Tasting experience.

9)  East meets West at West was the best Culinary Adventure/Dinner with 2 of Canada’s best chefs.

10)  Sake Master Dinner at Ki was the best Pairing Dinner with Sake and delicious Japanese cuisine.

11)  Cherry Harvest Winemakers Dinner at Fraiche was the best BC Winemakers Dinner experience.

12)  Robert Mondavi Winemakers Dinner at Blue Water Café was the best Winemakers Dinner experience.

13)  Stags Hollow Tasting Lunch at Lift was the best Winemakers Lunch of the year.

14)  Steamworks Beer Launch Party was the best Beer Launch Party of the year with delicious comfort food.

15)  Cooking for a Cause Celebration was the most incredible evening of food and wine from some of Vancouver’s finest chefs outside of the city in the most spectacular venue.

16)  Tableau Bar Bistro celebrates 1 year was the best 1st Year Anniversary party with delicious food and drinks.

17)  Joy of Feeding was the best afternoon of eating delicious food outside on a farm.

18)  Tasting Brunch at the Bibo was the best media tasting brunch with an extensive selection of delish food and drink.

1)    Chewies  Opening was the best restaurant opening of the year.

2)    Ocean Wise Seafood Chowder Chowdown was the most entertaining event at the coolest venue that brought together some of the cities best chefs, restaurants and breweries.

3) Black & Blue Restaurant Opening was one of the most fun events of 2011 with cocktails flowing and appetizers.

4) 2011 Gold Medal Plates was the most amazing gastronomic experience.

5) Thierry Opening was the sweetest opening of the year with amazing desserts, wine and appetizers

6) Feast of Fields at Krause Berry Farms was the best afternoon of eating and drinking in the outdoors.

7) Chefs Table Dinner Party that Earls Hornby held for me and Vancouver Foodster contest winners.

8 ) Best of the West was the best food event in the best location imaginable on the wharf at Ambelside in West Van

9) Dish N Dazzle was the best food, wine and cocktail event from some of Vancouver’s finest chefs, and bartenders.

10) Summer Splash at Goldfish was the most fun event of 2011 with delicious food and festivities.

11) A Night at the Aquarium was the most incredible evening of food from some of Vancouver’s finest chefs and wine in the city’s most spectacular venue.

12) Spring Party at Miku Restaurant serving outstanding seafood.

I went to a lot of different food and wine events during the 1st year of Vancouver Foodster and these are the standouts of the year.

1) Dinner on the Floating Dining Room was one of the most unique dining experiences I have ever had created by a visionary, Shannon Ronalds.


2) Summer Splash at Goldfish was one of the most fun events of 2010 with delicious food and festivities.


3) A Night at the Aquarium was the most incredible evening of food from some of Vancouver’s finest chefs and wine in the city’s most spectacular venue.


4) Hot Chefs Cool Jazz was one of the most amazing wine and gastronomic experiences.


5) Red Cross Red Carpet Soiree was one the most awesome fundraisers serving outstanding seafood.


6) 2010 Mixilympics Barman Competition was one of the most energetic mixologist competitions.

7) Ocean Wise Seafood Chowder Chowdown was the most entertaining event at the coolest venue that brought together some of the cities best chefs and restaurants to support a great organization.
