Dunn’s Famous Celebrates 1 Year

On November 28th Dunn’s Famous celebrated their 1st Anniversary, guests enjoyed their famous Montreal smoked meat sandwiches, hand carved and piled high.

Just like last year at their opening party I ate my way through a Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich, the Dunn’s Smoked Meat Poutine, Pickles and Carrot Cake for dessert!

Guests also enjoyed wine, beer, juices and soft drinks as they were entertained by large pickle who roamed the room.

Hy’s Steakhouse Celebrates 50 Years

Last night, I attended the 50th Anniversary party of Hy’s Steakhouse, this is a huge achievement in Vancouver and quite the milestone of 50 years! The party had some 600 people on the guest list and all were treated to a classic Hy’s experience that we have all come to know over the years.

There is quite the history that began with Founder, Hy Aisenstat 50 years ago, these iconic steakhouses are not only located in Vancouver, you can find locations across Canada.

Guests mingled and enjoyed the open bars, sipping on a multitude of fine International wines, spirits and beer. There were stations of food located throughout the 2 level restaurant including their famous Caesar Salad, Roast Beef with Yorkshire Pudding, a seafood buffet, their famous Garlic Cheese Toast, delicious Lamb Chops, other canapés and of course Cherries Jubilee!

It is rare these days to find servers who have been working for a restaurant for over 30 years, I met one last night who has worked for Hy’s as a server for 47 years!

On May 16th Tableau Bar Bistro celebrated their 1st Anniversary, guests enjoyed wine, craft beer, and the house specialty La Strangiato cocktail.

Fraiche Celebrates 1 Year Leap Anniversary

On Tuesday February 29th, I attended the 1st year Leap Anniversary (that’s 4 years) Party at Fraiche Restaurant in West Vancouver. Guests mingled over glasses of red and white wine, savoured bites by Chef Jefferson Alvarez. Guests included Chef Wayne Martin who was the opening chef of the restaurant 4 years ago.

Provence Marinaside Celebrates 10 Years

On Thursday, February 23rd  I attended the 10th Anniversary Party at Provence Marinaside where proprietor and Executive Chef Jean-Francis Quaglia greeted guests.

Nancy Wong has been the publicist of Provence Marinaside since day 1, and this was a chance to celebrate all the wonderful people that have been a part of the restaurants success.

Wine was poured as guests mingled inside the restaurant, oysters were chucked, and canapés were passed around. The restaurant is owned by husband and wife team, chefs Alessandra and Jean-Francis Quaglia.

Adesso Bistro Celebrates 1 Year

On Sunday June 5th I attended the 1st Anniversary Party at Adesso Bistro where proprietors Carol Gadsby and Luciano Loi greeted guests. Both white and red wine was poured as guests mingled and lounged on the outside patio.

Delicious Ligurian fare was served, Canapes created by Nicolas Hipperson Sous Chef and his team were passed around, my favourites were the Chick Pea topped Bruschetta rounds and the Beet and Goat Cheese Salad as well as the Sundried Tomato topped Risotto balls.

Calabash Bistro Celebrates 1 Year

On Wednesday June 1st I attended the 1st Anniversary Party at Calabash Bistro, the party happened to take place in conjunction with the Vancouver Canucks playing their 1st game in the Stanley Cup finals. Guests were fortunate to be able to watch the game on the big screen and to party it up over rum bunch and delicious Jamaican fare.

Fish House 20th Anniversary

On May 5th, I attended the Fish House 20th Anniversary which was quite the nostalgic celebration. Invited guests mingled over Don Julio Tequila cocktails and wine from BC and New Zealand.

Canapes created by Executive Chef Karen Barnaby and her team were passed around all night long, some of the bites that were popular with guests was the deep fried bacon, halibut sliders, toffee bacon and the chocolate stout cupcakes.
