Calabash Bistro Celebrates 1 Year

On Wednesday June 1st I attended the 1st Anniversary Party at Calabash Bistro, the party happened to take place in conjunction with the Vancouver Canucks playing their 1st game in the Stanley Cup finals. Guests were fortunate to be able to watch the game on the big screen and to party it up over rum bunch and delicious Jamaican fare.

Fish House 20th Anniversary

On May 5th, I attended the Fish House 20th Anniversary which was quite the nostalgic celebration. Invited guests mingled over Don Julio Tequila cocktails and wine from BC and New Zealand.

Canapes created by Executive Chef Karen Barnaby and her team were passed around all night long, some of the bites that were popular with guests was the deep fried bacon, halibut sliders, toffee bacon and the chocolate stout cupcakes.

On Thursday April 7th, I attended the 1st Anniversary Party of Guilt & Co. in Gastown.

Atithi Celebrates 2 Years

On Monday February 7, I attended the 2nd Anniversary Multi-Course Bengali dinner hosted by Atithi Indian Restaurant in Kitsilano. They invited some media friends to a 7 course tasting menu to celebrate their anniversary.

Chef Roy Abhishek welcomed everyone and described the Bengali meal we were about to enjoy. He described the ingredients and provided origins of the spices and vegetables. Each dish was unique and delicious, the flavours weren’t anything we have been accustomed to in this area.

The meal began with the 1st Appetizer, Banana Blossom Cutlets with masala mayonnaise.

The 3rd dish was the first of 4 entrees, the Bitter Gourd with sweet organic squash sabji

We ended the meal with 7th dish, a Mango Mousse with sweet paneer and a Cardamom Cream Brulee Chocolate

Celebrating 2 Years at The St. Regis Hotel

On Wednesday December 1st, I attended the 2nd Anniversary Party of the St. Regis Hotel which was almost like a roving House Party.

The wine and Kir cocktails were flowing all evening, a couple of large platters of cheese and fruit graced the tables, the chef was cooking up some of his Yorkshire Pudding bowls, along with some pasta creations, the Executive Chef was serving a variety of pizzas and pulled pork sandwiches.

The party took place in and outside of the rooms inside the hotel. Lee-Wai Yu entertained with his wonderful music on guitar.

Joe Fortes 25th Anniversary

On Wednesday November 10th, I attended the Joe Fortes 25th Anniversary which was quite the spectacular celebration. MC by my friend Dawn Chubai who is one of the hosts of CITY TV’s Breakfast Television this was an event like none other.

The party was sold out months before and guests were dressed in glamour, this was a Black Tie event after all.

There were a multitude of wineries pouring their finest bubbly on the main floor as well as the second level and rooftop lounge. There was beer from Whistler Brewing too!

Canapes created by Executive Chef Scott Pratico and his team were passed around all night long, sister restaurant Goldfish Pacific Kitchen was also on hand with Chefs Curtis Webb and Ryan Mah dishing out a wonderful veal dish! Oyster Bob was serving up Oysters as fast as he could shuck them for guests.

Then there were fabulous desserts including the coffee cream puffs and the chocolate fondue along with fruits for dipping! Pastry Chef Kelly Urbanoski also created the beautiful 25th Anniversary Cake.

DJ Leanne and her band with live congo drums had the guests dancing late into the night.

Congratulations to Bud and Dotty Kanke (Proprietors) for a great celebration! Wishing Joe Fortes many more years!

Lin Chinese Cuisine Celebrates 3 Years

On Tuesday November 9th I attended the 3rd Anniversary Multi-Course Banquet dinner at Lin Chinese Cuisine in South Granville.

Dish after dish arrived to our table and this delicious meal featuring many of their new menu creations.

Charm Modern Thai Celebrates 2 Years

On Wednesday November 3rd, I attended the 2nd Anniversary party at Charm Modern Thai in Yaletown. The wine and cocktails were flowing all night long, as soon as the tasty Thai food arrived to the table it was devoured within minutes, the chefs were busy keeping up to their hungry guests. DJ Skilla was mixing up loud music all night long, keeping guests entertained.
