Cooking at Home with Fresh Prep

This past week we had a chance to experience Fresh Prep at home. It had been over 2-1/2 years since I had tried their service and it was time to give it another go.  Fresh Prep is a local company that has been around for over 5 years, they have created a selection of their own recipes to make it easy for home cooks to make the dishes in approx. 30 mins.

Lawrence and I prepared all the ingredients that came in each of the bagged meal kits and placed it on the kitchen counter with the protein. Once set-up we looked at the recipe card which listed the other ingredients that may be needed from our own pantry such as salt, pepper or olive oil. Ever since the Covid19 shutdown began I have had to change my normal routine from eating out in restaurants nightly to eating at home. some of the nights we had takeout, others were restaurant meal kits and this past week it was cooking at home with the Fresh Prep service.

The idea for this meal kit service is that they shop, chop, and deliver fresh recipe ingredients directly to your home or office each week. Since they buy direct from the local farms and top quality meat producers you get great product and you are supporting local. In a cooler bag, you’ll receive just the right amount of almost every ingredient along with simple instructions to cook a meal you’ll love in under 30 minutes. Prepared ingredients mean zero prep required and fewer dishes to clean up. Each week Fresh Prep offers 10 different dishes to choose from; in your profile you would indicated your dietary preferences such as no pork or seafood as an example; they then pre-select some dishes; but you can review and change it as you wish.

Over four nights during the week we cooked four different Fresh Prep meals and this time around all four were winners, each meal was delicious.

The week started off with the recipe for the Sweet Mustard Glazed Steelhead with Broken rice and Green beans.

The next night, we felt like Mexican and made the Carne Asada Huaraches with Pico de Gallo and Cotija Cheese.

The next recipe we chose to make was the Spiced Turkey & Zucchini Skewers with Mediterranean Couscous & Tahini Cilantro Sauce.

The last meal of our collection of Fresh Prep meals this week was the Caramel Balsamic Chicken with Walnut Pangrattato Orzo and Roasted Broccoli.

The process is fairly easy, you set up an account with Fresh Prep online while setting up for your first delivery, you choose the number of meals you want and for 2-person meals or the family plan. You then get all the pre-portioned ingredients along with the recipes delivered to your home.
