Nachos Challenge Winners

The Vancouver Foodster Nachos Challenge was a success featuring unique creations at restaurants around Vancouver.  Each restaurant featured their creation on their menu from November 8 – December 2, 2018. and their customers voted for their favourites daily throughout the challenge.

Our media judging panel determined the ultimate winners of the challenge, and this was quite the task as each judge who tasted each creation with a rigorous process based on taste, originality/uniqueness and presentation/appearance.

Our Media judges for this challenge were: Andrew Chan, Zahra Alani and Jess Chan.

Each media judge will have scored the creation with a maximum of 40 points as follows: Overall Taste 20 points, Originality and Uniqueness 10 points, Presentation and Appearance 10 points). The total number of points a sandwich creation could earn is 120 points.

Description: very unique nachos made with plantain chips instead of tortilla chips. We add the regular toppings (diced tomatoes, jalapeños, black olives, spring onions), with the addition of crumbled toasted bacon if desired. We do not use a pico de gallo salsa but rather we use a HOGAO sauce (authentic Colombian recipe) made with fresh tomatoes, tomato sauce, garlic, cilantro, green onions and other ingredients – served warm. In addition, and if desired, we offer a Cilantro Aioli sauce.(so decadent you can´t stop dipping).
