La Cantina Tacos

Gobernador

Gobernador

Price: $4.50

Created by: Chef Eduardo Armando Angulo Salomón, owner of Los Arcos Restaurant in Mazatlan back in 2000. The taco was reproduced in Whistler by our Executive Chef, Candelario Olivares.

Description: Made Named after Francisco Labastida, governor of Sinaloa. In year 2000 a restaurant owner from Mazatlan was informed that the Governor was going to be in town and had made a reservation at his restaurant. He wanted to impress him and asked his Chef to create a special taco for him. A delicious taco with shrimp, melted Oaxaca cheese, peppers and onion, topped with a chile de arbol Sinaloa style salsa was served to the Governor. He was pleasantly happy with the tacos, and asked; “what’s the name of these tacos?”, the restaurant owner let him know that they had been prepared in his honor. The governor immediately replied: They need to be baptized as “Tacos Gobernador!”.
