Tasty N’ Sons

On my recent visit to Portland, Oregon for Feast Portland, I also had a chance to visit some cafes, bakeries, restaurants and such on my own.

Ava Gene’s Restaurant is owned by Chef Josh McFadden and specializes in Italian cuisine, this was his first restaurant that opened 5 years ago, he has since opened more eateries in Portland.

The Ricotta Hotcake

As I was on my own I was only able to enjoy one dish, and it was The Ricotta Hotcake, a delicious vanilla ricotta hotcake, sticky macerated berries, lemon curd cream, cinnamon cookie meringue. I also had an Iced Cold Brew Coffee as I had to try their coffee.

As I was exploring the NW neighborhood, I visited Ken’s Artisan Bakery and enjoyed a delicious Herbed Goat Cheese & Leek Croissant.

Wiz Bang Bar

Cocanu’s Grey Bar “magic shell”

Greek Yogurt Soft Serve with baklava and chocolate

The Wiz Bang Bar is a gourmet soft serve ice cream emporium in the Pine Street Market, here I had the Cocanu’s Grey Bar “magic shell” made with ground black sesame on top of their vanilla custard soft serve new flavour that I enjoyed, created by Tyler James Malek using @cocanu black sesame; I also tried the Greek Yogurt Soft Serve with baklava and chocolate, a collaboration flavour made with Souvla San Francisco that was on offer for a one day pop-up during Feast Portland.

Over at Tusk a Middle Eastern focussed eatery is owned by Chef Josh McFadden and Chef Sam Smith, has a gorgeous interior, this is where I had the delicious Tusk Hummus with flatbread; and the Dukka with nuts, seeds and olive oil; Halva Soft Serve Ice Cream Sundae with hot fudge, salted peanuts and olive oil

Dutch Baby

Maple & Cumin Glazed Yams

For Brunch on Sunday, I met up with some cousins at Tasty N’ Sons where I had a Dutch Baby with lemon curd and jam served up in a black iron skillet, even for the non-egg lover in me, I loved this dish! Also tried the tasty Maple & Cumin Glazed Yams.
