Pizza Challenge 2017 Winners

The Vancouver Foodster 3rd Pizza Challenge was a great success featuring unique creations at restaurants around Vancouver, Burnaby, Port Moody, Fort Langley, West Vancouver and North Vancouver.  Each restaurant featured their creation on their menu from March 3-26, 2017. and their customers voted for their favourites daily throughout the challenge for their People’s Choice favourites.

Our media judging panel determined the ultimate winners of the challenge, and this was quite the task as each judge who tasted each creation with a rigorous process based on taste, originality/uniqueness and presentation/appearance.

Description: This pizza is a piece of my family roots and stories. I come from the town where the Mediterranean Diet was born . It is an ancient territory and little known, that still keeps the beauty of the pheasant society of  the last century. It is part of a unique cultural and historical heritage that has spanned the history and the myth of the dawn of civilization, all of this made me who I am now, and it is all reflected in my dishes. I wanted to create a green based pizza, like the spring hills covered of green and flowers. A touch of warm white, the contrast of the brown and red reminding the soil where everything grows. All is covered with an elegant pistachio grain. To me it is like painting my beautiful land in Italy. All this in some way makes me feel lucky and a little special. Hope you will enjoy it, Buon Appetito!

Ingredients: A homemade recipe of fresh arugula pesto, Fior Di Latte, fresh garlic, Porcini mushrooms, Italian truffle cream and topped with prosciutto crudo aged 18 months, shaved Parmigiano Reggiano and toasted pistachio grain.
