Tasting at Railtown Café Howe Street

Last week I had the pleasure to partake in a media tasting of some salads, sandwiches, beverages and desserts at their newest location in the centre of downtown Vancouver.

Ancient Grains Salad

The Kale Salad

Ancient Grains Salad with Brussel sprouts, mushrooms, crispy onions, reggiano, aged Sherry dressing

The Kale Salad with baby kale, quinoa, shaved apple and fennel, spiced yams, shaved beetroot, broccolini, feta, squash chips, apple cider vinaigrette

I had a chance to try a couple of salads, my favourite was the Ancient Grains followed by The Kale.

Sandwiches

The Reuben with beef brisket, thousand island coleslaw, gruyere, rye

The Chicken Club warm chicken breast, 72 hour bacon, tomato, green goddess, focaccia

The Smoked Turkey with avocado, provolone, ancho chili aioli, sourdough

Of the Sandwiches that I tried, I love the Foccacia bread which won me over with The Chicken Club, The Reuben was a hearty sandwich with it’s thick slices of beef brisket and The Smoked Turkey was an all around great sandwich option.

Salted Caramel Cruller, Carrot Cake, Peanut Crunch Bar and Espresso Brownie

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies and Raspberry Financier

Peanut Crunch Bar

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies

Raspberry Financier

I tried the above selection of baked treats, my favourite of all was the Salted Caramel Cruller followed by the Peanut Crunch Bar and the Raspberry Financier.

I tried some of the refreshing beverages as well, in addition to these great salad and sandwich options, they also offer a build your own version of both offerings where you can choose to create a one of a kind dish.

Railtown Café is located at 968 Howe Street in downtown Vancouver, open Mon – Fri from 7:30am – 6pm; and Sat-Sun from 11am -4pm.
