Advice: Takes reservations as well as walk-ins.

As the years go by Mexican cuisine and it’s restaurants that have opened in our city have done so with passion along with a somewhat dare to bring more traditional dishes to our area. Owners, Ignacio Arrieta and Marcelo Ramirez are those that take the dare seriously, this their 2nd of the La Mezcaleria brand, here they are featuring Mexican drinks, many with a Mezcal or Tequila focus, along with traditional homestyle foods to more developed dishes at a higher price point.

Chicharrones de Salmon

Ensalade Verde

Botanas

Asada Tacos

Barbacoa de Cordero

I had the Chicharrones de Salmon with guacamole, a tasty starter served in a volcanic bowl; along with the Ensalade Verde with jicama, shaved radish, apples, baby kale, candied pecans and a Mezcal vinaigrette which was refreshing.A couple of delicious Asada Tacos followed along with one of the Botanas (side dishes). The Barbacoa de Cordero with slow-roasted lamb, consommé, onion, cilantro with corn tortillas was my favourite of the savoury dishes, loved the presentation as well.

Corn Custard

Flan

The Corn Custard with vanilla ice cream was divine, truly unique and delicious; also had one of their popular Flans which is fairly small enhanced with caramel and garnished with a goose berry.

They offer upwards of 80 mezcals for tasting flights and to have made into cocktails, as well there is a large selection of tequila on offer to go with other drinks. The food is the star here even though the mezcal collections shines bright in Gastown. I am looking forward to visiting again to try their weekend brunch.
