Winemakers Dinner at City Side Winery

On October 21, I attended the first wine makers dinner held at the beautiful City Side Winery, this wonderful dinner featured the talented Chef Christopher Floyd pairing up his dishes with wines from City Side Winery.

There were a selection of appetizers served family style to the table featuring Mussel Coal, Sweet Potato tamago, Radishes and arugula, alongside some delicious homemade breads made by Chef Kate    as we sipped on some French Champagne.

Now on to dinner and the pairings!

1st course

CSW Viognier Scallop Crudo sake and horseradish snow, brown rice crispy, pabs gel a delicious dish; paired with the City Side Winery Mystic Pearl, Semillion 2014.

 

2nd course

 CSW Reisling Salad of Fall Greens

CSW Reisling Salad of Fall Greens

 CSW  Reisling Salad of Fall Greens with fior di late, burnt shallot crumble, confit peach and yeast chips; paired with the Mystic Pearl Riesling 2014.

 

3rd course

CSW Chardonnay Risoco

CSW Chardonnay Risoco “Mabsse” squid ink, kuri squash, basil, roasted beet,potato,  stracchino, a very unique and creative dish; paired with the Amphora Chardonnay 2014.

 

4th course

CSW Merlot Dry Aged Striploin Fig leaf ashes, blueberry, potato and brown bucer crispy brussel sprout leaves, foraged mushrooms, an impressive dish, perfectly paired with the Mystic Pearl Merlot 2012.

 

5th course

Kobocha squash, milk chocolate

Kobocha squash, milk chocolate

Kobocha squash, milk chocolate, mace, cane  sugar fresh ginger, hazelnut, a delicious dessert by Chef Katelyn Boutilier; paired with the Blandy’s, Duke of Clarence Madeira.

This was a wonderful dinner with a creative menu prepared by Chef Christopher Floyd in a creative setting matching up the delicious food with their wines.
