An Austrian style café in the heart of Chinatown is a one of a kind, unique café that features home-made savoury and sweet strudels along with coffee beverages from Austria. Baron Klaus Erich von Hochgotz is the chef and one of the co-owners, he comes from Austria and he knows his strudel. There were at least 7 different types on offer each time I visited. In addition to the strudels, they have sandwiches, along with a full coffee and tea menu.
I have had the Auerhahn Sandwich with oven roasted turkey, quite the presentation for this half sandwich. Austrian style! I have also enjoyed the delicious Nutella and Apricot Strudel on one visit; as well as the Mushroom Asparagus Strudel on another visit. On one visit I had the pour-over type of coffee, Austrian style, and on another I had the Viennese Melange, a classic drink, small espresso served with half steamed milk topped off with milk froth.
His partner runs the coffee bar, serving up the coffees and strudels with a smile. Together they have created a bright café that features a nod of Asian influence with very good Austrian strudels and coffee that is going to have you yearning for many repeat visits. I can’t wait to try another strudel.
