With it’s star patio setting, Executive Chef Zach Steele leads the kitchen where he offers up a creative and flavourful menu of Italian and Mediterranean influenced fare. After a couple of visits, I have enjoyed taking a whirl through the tasty menu offerings matching up some new world reds to go with the dishes.
The Scallops ($16), prosciutto, cracklings, cauliflower, squid ink aioli was a stunning dish; as was the unique and so good, Grilled Caesar Salad ($12) with romaine, anchovies, croutons, parmesan and olive oil; and the Salmon ($15) with beets, lemon, caper and brown butter was another stunner.
The pastas are house-made, and the Linguini Vongole ($18) with clams and garlic had lots of flavour; and the Pesto Orecchiette ($16) with broccoli basil pesto, broccoli florets, pistachios and asiago was delicious, loved the flavours and the crunch.
Mario’s “Old School” Tuscan Grilled Meatballs ($9). Beef, Pork and Veal polpette with hand crushed San Marzano tomatoes, finished with Baccano Parmigiano cheese sauce was a delicious creation; the Beef Short Rib ($26) on the bone with housemade gnocchi, mushrooms, jus and crispy leeks was an impressive dish, loved the flavours of the crispy leeks and the jus.
They offer up a good selection of wines, some from Italy and others from the Okanagan, California and other areas, they also offer beer as well as cocktails. I am looking forward to another go around as more dishes are added as well as to try their soon to launch brunch.
