Advice: No reservations, counter service for take-out.
It’s a Korean dessert café that specializes in the Bingsoo type of shaved ice dessert. Here they coin their shaved ice creations as Bingsoo which are pretty much sundaes with a twist. The base of each is their shaved ice which is shredded somewhat like coconut but it’s not coconut, and it has a light milky flavour, each of their Bingsoo are then topped with a variety of interesting toppings. It’s fun and I loved not only the desserts, I also loved the ambiance and the service.
This is their first Canadian location of this popular dessert café that originates in Korea. Additionally, they also specialize in the Tayaki, which is similar to a croissant but flattened into a shape of a fish, with several different types of fillings. I had the Tayaki Croissant ($3.50) boong bread baked and filled with sweet potato; as well I had the delicious Injeolmi Bingsoo ($8), it’s shaved ice milk dessert topped with soy powder, peanuts, mochi, red bean, and condensed milk; along with a strong and very good Espresso ($2).
This is a café you are going to want to frequent either at their location on the Golden Road in Richmond or at their soon to open location downtown Vancouver. The Bingsoo is a dessert that I have been craving since my first visit and I’ll be back their soon.
