Taking Modern Asian to another level, owners, Chef Clement Chan and Chef Steve Kuan who both also own the popular Le Tigre Food Truck; have kicked it up a notch. Bringing us a playful menu that is filled with exciting dishes from a talented kitchen team; and an energizing cocktail list from barman Max Borrowman. Their interpretations of Modern Asian is bold on flavours traditionally found in Japanese, Taiwanese, Korean, and Vietnamese cuisine. Additionally, every plate features seasonal ingredients, straight from local farmers.

Peoples Cocktail

I have dined a couple of times since opening, most recently joined by friend Kai Okazaki for some cocktails and menu exploration. Loved the smooth and refreshing, Silk Route Cocktail with grand mariner, amaro ramazzotti, lime, honey ginger syrup, goji Berry ginsing tincture, lemongrass as well as the Peoples Cocktail with cucumber and gin.

Dr. Octopus vs Mr, Tuna

Sharing is name of the game here, even if you want to have the Rye So Messy Chicken Wings ($12) all to yourself, this outstanding dish is one that I would order time and time again, it is rye and gochujang marinate, mango glaze, ramen crumble, kfc sauce. Dr. Octopus vs Mr, Tuna ($12) is a stunning dish of an Octopus salad with, tomato, jalapenos, scallions, crispy nori, tuna crudo, romesco sauce.

Kickass Veggie Risotto

Kickass Veggie Risotto

For Vegetarians Only ($10) is a dish filled with crunch and flavours, with the Crispy mochi, seasonal veggies, mozza, and torched mayo, it’s not only for vegetarians. The other dish that vegetarians will love is the heavenly Kickass Veggie Risotto ($12) made of butter, parmesan reggiano, and assorted mushrooms.

The Kickass Rice 2.0 ($10) takes it’s nod from a version of the dish off their food truck menu, this one is spectacular, Aburi style torched pork belly with kickass rice in a box. I loved the sauce and the crispy potatoes served along the side of the Welcome to the Gun-Show ($12) Local mussels, tomato, coconut milk, lime, cilantro, chipotle, and crispy potatoes. Ended off with This is not Tortellini ($12) which was the only dish that I didn’t love off the entire menu, it is pork, shiso, ginger, garlic, scallion, and a spicy angry tiger sauce.

You’ll find the cocktail bar a great place to sit when dining solo and a cocktail list to match the equally inventive dishes! I can’t wait to return for more of the Rye So Messy Chicken Wings as well as to try some more dishes off the menu.
