Advice: Counter service. Salsa bar (complimentary).

With my love for Mexican food, our city’s scene keeps on evolving, the latest taco oriented spot is run by Chef/Owner Fhernando Llanas and his wife who is also a chef. It’s fairly small with just 9 seats, but big enough for the flow of patrons to order from the counter and patiently wait to eat-in or take-out. The kitchen set-up is well thought-out, first of all almost everything is made from scratch in house, and the taco fillings are lined-up for quick assembly and for patrons to watch, also a smart idea.

Kale & Corn Tortilla Chips

I had 4 Tacos ($10) the Rajas con Crema with roasted poblano pepper, creamed corn, chard onion, kale tortilla; the Carnitas with confit pork shoulder, pickled jalapenos, shaved red onion, micro coriander; the Pollo con mole a clay baked free range chicken, house made mole sauce, tossed sesame; and the Frijoles Rancheros with double smoked bacon, pinto beans, spicy chorizo, micro cilantro, fresh cheese. I also had a side of their housemade Kale & Corn Tortilla Chips (if you don’t want the chicharones (pork rind) that comes in the chip mix, specify at time of ordering). They offer a couple of different specialty beverages daily, I had the Strawchata ($3) a horchata with strawberry ice cubes making for an interactive experience as I had to use my straw to crush the strawberry in the drink.

You will also find a salsa bar that features their home-made salsas, (mild, regular, hot with mix of green and red) and fresh salsas, all complimentary to flavour enhance your tacos if you so choose. All in all, it’s a great spot with friendly service, delicious food and I am looking forward to seeing their menu develop with other Mexican specialties.
