After many years since my last visit, my good friend Sherri Morris joined me to indulge in Chef Paul Haldane’s dishes. The restaurant’s décor had been redone awhile back, it’s brighter and has a wonderful elegance which leads right into the food, to start we shared the Pistachio Pate with homemade vegetable chutney and croistini. Next it was the flavourful Endive, Poached Pear, Walnut Salad; followed by the outstanding, Smoked Albacore Tuna & Octopus Salad with pickled kohlrabi; rounding out the appetizers was my favourite, the Tasting of Taleggio done 3 ways with a panko crusted piece served on top of quince squares, pear pana cotta along with the red pepper ‘cannelloni’, an outstanding plate!

For our mains, we shared 3 larger plates, the Ruby Trout Almondine with a saffron braised burdock, was very good! The Cache Creek Steak Au Poivre was delicious and perfectly cooked, the server shaved Fois Gras tableside over the Cache Creek Steak Au Poivre, a nice touch! Lastly my favourite dish was the Slow Cooked Duck Pappardelle with confit duck, buttermilk squash, leeks, sage and cream.

The desserts are all made by their Sweet Obsession bakery which is situated a door down and the selection is extensive. I had the delicious Lemon Orange Flan with a blueberry compote and raspberry coulis, for the perfect finish; while Sherri had the Dulce de leche. I am looking forward to returning, next time for brunch.
