One of my own Dine Out Fest experiences this year was dining at the long table in the York Room at Hawksworth Restaurant for one of their Side Dishes dinners. A unique event that I attended on January 20 featuring a set 3 course meal that is elegantly served with or without the set wine pairings. You dine communally yet are served individually, it was a wonderful night. My friend Sheryl was visiting from out of town and she joined me along with many others whom we didn’t know sitting side by side at the long table. Most of us had the wine pairings option, and we had a chance to meet some of the others and talk food.
Chef David Hawksworth welcomed everyone and talked about the dishes and wines we were about to enjoy.
As dinner began, we were served an amuse to tickle our senses and brighten our palate for what was to come.
Hamachi with buttermilk, green apple & Shisho, a bright dish full of flavour.
Confit pork shoulder, caramelized onion, smoked brassica, parsnip which was a hearty serving of tender meat.
Warm Chocolate Cake with pear sorbet and candied almonds, paired with the mv Chateau Montifaud Vieux Pineau des Charentes (France) the pairing was outstanding.
As you can imagine I enjoyed my night, as well the service was well paced, Dine Out Fest is over for this year, if you see this on the bill next year, make sure you consider on attending at least one of these Hawksworth Side Dishes dining experiences.
