Advice: Live music on Wednesdays.
As a lover of all things Spanish, and yearning for more eateries serving dishes with flavours from Spain, we go to East Van. Run by owner Herschel Miedzygorski, he has put a latin spin on his latest eatery and he has done it oh so well. A wonderful surprise on the night I was in, music to my ears, with a fabulous classical guitarist playing for diners enjoyment.
For dinner I had the delicious Califato Fritters ($7) fried #GlutenFree eggplant, Rojo & verde; along with the outstanding Duck Confit Croquette ($11) with fig & ginger jam. Loved the Almond Crusted Goat Cheese ($6) with orange blossom honey for dessert.
Went back for brunch the other day and had the delicious Egg white Tapas 23 Omelette ($10) filled with chorizo, goat cheese, tomatoes with their Spanish potatoes and whole wheat toast. The menu has a well thought out mix of tapas, fish dishes, salads, sides and desserts. They also have a well thought out wine list featuring wines from Spain, BC and other areas, along with a small selection of sherry.
