Advice: Selection of board games available to play.
Hidden away on the edge of Mount Pleasant is this small café where owners Maciej and Kie are creating their community. Both live in the neighborhood, creating a space for people to enjoy by day and soon by night. Inside you will find an espresso bar along with a selection of house baked goodies that include muffins, loafs and more. I had the toasted Reuben Sandwich ($7) delicious and lean, it is made with corned beef from J. Beethoven’s New York Corned Beef Connection; I also had an Espresso Macchiato ($3.25) made with locally roasted Elysian Coffee Beans; along with a slice of their moist Carrot Walnut Cake, the perfect indulgence.
The menu board not only features a daily brew, it also includes a matcha green tea latte and Royal milk tea, a Japanese staple and one which is part of Kie’s heritage. You will find a selection of sandwiches and other savoury dishes to enjoy. You may be looking for an escape and may be inclined to sit at one of the popular window seats or may want to have a seat at a table to play a board game or read one of the English or Japanese books. You may even be inclined to strike up a conversation with Maciej as I did. This is a great spot to enjoy an escape off of bustling Kingsway, connect with them on instagram and the spot to go if you live nearby.
