Carnaval del Sol July 6 & 7

The 5th Annual Carnaval del Sol, Vancouver’s Latin American Celebration of Art and Culture, presented by LatinCouver, returns this year on July 6 & 7 for 2 full days of events. You will be transported into Latino culture with a Canadian twist, experience a Latin American plaza where traditionally the community comes together to share their talents through art, culture, dance and colour.

Get ready to experience the Latin cuisines at the festival which include:

Mexico

Mexican food is colourful, spicy and nutritious.The fresh combination of their main ingredients – tomatoes, coriander, avocado, onions, chilies, corn, limes – creates a depth of flavour, inviting us to enjoy every bite. Of course, Mexico’s famous tacos, burritos and nachos are some of the delicious dishes on offer during Carnaval del Sol.

Brazil

Also, you can taste the national dishes of Brazil at our event: feijoada (hearty meat stew made from pork and black beans) coxinhas, brigadeiro and more.

Peru

Jump to los Andes and discover the famous anticuchos, tamales and quinoa cake.

Chile

You can not miss the famous Chilean empanadas, pastel de choclo, brazo de reina and more.

Cuba

The famous pan con lechon with the traditional mojo sauce, grilled chicken and beef with Cuban seasoning will bring the flavours of Havana to the streets of Vancouver.

El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras

Central America food is amazing and generous. You can taste through our Festival yucca with pork ribs, the famous pupusas (tortilla stuffed with cheese, chicharron and refried beans), baleadas, potatoes swirls and more.
